Hi! I’m a single dad with two daughters (5 & 8) who are with me 50% of the time. They’re both very creative and energetic, and I’m looking for a reliable, practical person to help keep the house running smoothly so I can be more present with them.

I’m after someone on a casual, ongoing basis to help with a weekly “house reset”. This would usually be 1–2 hours per week to start, with flexibility either side.

Tasks might include:
• Tidying up and putting things back in their place
• Washing dishes or unpacking the dishwasher
• Folding or putting away clean laundry
• Light room resets and general organisation
• Occasional personal assistant–type errands, like picking up birthday presents or small items

There may also be occasional ad-hoc babysitting, if you’re open to it, but the core of the role is household help rather than childcare.

The role will likely start regularly from late January, as my current helper is moving interstate, though there may be a few opportunities before then.

Artie is a strong-minded, curious 4-year-old who loves the outdoors, books, boxes, water play, baking, and trains. He was born with a genetic neuro-developmental disorder and has global developmental delay. He is non-verbal, has cortical vision impairment (CVI), and low muscle tone, so he benefits from some additional support. Experience with children with additional needs is welcome but not essential—finding the right person who genuinely connects with Artie is most important to us.

Artie will be starting at a special school in Balwyn next year to support his communication needs. He has been wonderfully integrated into his mainstream kinder and childcare over the past four years, and we’re looking to ensure a smooth, positive transition.
