I’m looking for someone to join my team as a support worker for a beautiful 11 year old boy with Norries Disease who is blind and has autism and an intellectual disability. He is supported after school 3pm-8pm and on weekends and school holidays. Looking for someone who has availability on at least one of the listed weekdays and/or Sundays 10am-3pm or 3pm-8pm. The hours have potential to increase if desired by early next year as one of his current team members will be finishing her degree and moving on. All training and ongoing support is provided by me so no need for prior experience in support work but this is highly regarded. You would need to be mature, nurturing, and to have a passion for working with children and learning new skills as well as the ability to stay calm when child is dysregulated and adapt to ongoing training and feedback. Someone who is either working in or aspiring to work in behaviour support, occupational therapy, speech therapy or physio therapy would be perfect for this role as we work closely with these therapies and integrate goals into what we do with the children on a daily basis. Please note a drivers licence and access to a car is essential for the role. We’re looking for someone awesome to take care of our two boys aged (almost) 4 and 6 at our place in Surrey Hills.

We need someone reliable that can commit ongoing for one day a week on a Thursday (with the potential option of a second day on a Friday). Hours would generally be 7:30am to 5:30/6pm.

Whilst there might be a little bit of food prep needed for the kids, the main focus of the role is caring for and playing with the boys.
