I’m looking for someone to join my team as a support worker for a beautiful 10 year old boy with Norries Disease who is blind and has autism and an intellectual disability. He is supported after school 3pm-8pm, weekends and school holiday. One of his current support workers is going away later in the year and we are looking to start training someone to replace her starting end of june. Days are flexible with, wednesday and thursday after school available and fortnightly Sundays 3pm-8pm available. To start with we would be looking for 1-2 shifts per week with the potential to increase in the future. All training and ongoing support is provided by me so no need for prior experience but this is highly regarded. You would need to be mature, nurturing, and to have a passion for working with children and learning new skills as well as the ability to stay calm when child is dysregulated and adapt to ongoing training and feedback. Someone who is either working in or aspiring to work in behaviour support, occupational therapy, speech therapy or physio therapy would be perfect for this role as we work closely with these therapies and integrate goals into what we do with the children on a daily basis. Please note a drivers licence and access to a car is essential for the role. We are looking for someone who can make a long term commitment of at last 1 year and the role requires regular weekly work with the child to be able to work with him on the school holidays so I am not able to accept applicants who are looking for temporary or solely school holiday work. I have a two-year-old boy and a seven month old daughter, my daughter is breast-fed so you’d be mainly helping with my son. I work from home and I’m finding it increasingly difficult to do so while looking after my kids. I’m looking for someone to help me on Mondays from around 9 AM until the afternoon, around two or 3 PM. I am on the fence about whether I need help for Wednesday as well, I was thinking of having someone start on Monday and if my workload is enough I could increase it to Wednesday as well!

Tuesday Wednesday Thursday happy for you to start 2-6pm or 3-5:30). If you can just work one or 2 of these days this is ok too.

He is recovering from chronic fatigue and is only physically attending school for a couple of hours on Thursday morning. He is enrolled in Virtual School Victoria and only requires minimal supervision as he follows his online school schedule with regular rest breaks. His sister will need to be taken to school both mornings, but their school is only a block away so it is a very brief walk. The day would start at 8am and finish around 4pm most days.
