Meet Jess: A babysitter and au pair in Marrickville, NSW

Hi! My name is Jess, and I’m 21 years old, currently finishing my degree in Primary Education. I’ve always had a passion for helping children and making a positive impact on their learning journey. I live in Marrickville but am more than happy to travel to nearby suburbs.

Throughout my studies, I have completed extensive placements specialising in early childhood education. I've spent 10 weeks working in a preschool setting and another 10 weeks in a primary school, specifically with Kindergarten students. With university wrapping up in just three weeks, I’ll soon have a lot more free time and am looking to take on more work during the day.

In addition to my studies, I’ve been working with several families for over 6 years and absolutely love it! I have looked after children ranging from newborn to 12 years. I’m now looking for more opportunities to work with children, as this is truly my passion.

Whilst caring for children, I enjoy playing games, doing craft or cooking; planning activities and I ensure the activities are child led. I am a good communicator, and have an empathetic nature and interest in wellbeing. I am patient and compassionate and I am good at guiding children’s social, physical and mental development through recreational activities.

Aside from babysitting, I’m happy to assist with occasional housework, help with schoolwork, or provide tutoring in specific subjects. I also play piano and am a regional-level swimmer, having taught piano lessons and teaching swimming lessons.

I’m eager to find new opportunities to work with families and children, and I can’t wait to help others as I continue on my journey to becoming a primary school teacher.
