I was born and raised in Brazil, up until I was 17 when I moved to Sydney, and have been here for the last 7 years. I finished my Certificate III in Early Childhood Education in April of 2024 and am currently halfway through my Diploma of the same, finishing in April 2025. I was an English teacher at the age of 14 when I was in Brazil to two classes of 6 to 9 years old children and 11 to 13 years old, eventually taking over a class of 21+ as well. I'm a creative and artistic person with a passion for acting, arts and crafts, and learning different languages. I am working in a childcare centre since July 2023 starting in the babies' room, switching to toddlers and now working with 3 to 4 year olds.

I lived on campus where I was rostered with five other Gappys to work between the boarding house as a house mother, in the school classrooms as a teachers assistant, and on the playing fields as coach. The children at the school were aged between 5 and 13. It was a nurturing and rewarding environment for both students and staff. We were encouraged to make the children feel supported and at home, while also making it fun. What I mostly came away with was a respect and understanding how the child and the child’s families each have their own values and to a certain extent routines, which we were encouraged to accommodate and validate as and when we could.
