Hi there :-) I’m an enthusiastic, experienced and reliable teacher on family leave, available for tutoring (in literacy and/or maths for support or extension work). I specialise in Foundation to Year 2 as well as school readiness (4 year old kinder) but have experience tutoring up to Year 5. I use an evidence-based structured literacy (phonics) approach and hands-on maths (linking concrete materials to abstract concepts). I pride myself on my ability to form positive relationships with children, getting to know how they learn, identifying gaps and misconceptions, and helping them achieve their next steps in learning. In my various work experiences - as a primary teacher (8 years experience teaching Prep, Year 1, 2 and 4) and previously as a swim teacher, nanny (5 years), babysitter (15 years) and private tutor (3 years) - children find me to be warm and approachable, and adults often observe that I am diligent and mature. As a teacher, I have all the relevant qualifications (level 2 first aid, asthma and anaphylaxis certificates, WWCC, police check, Covid vaccines etc.). I charge $100 per hour as a tutor or $80 for two children (one after the other). All learning activities are pre-prepared and tailored to your child’s needs. I'm also happy to communicate with their teacher about their goals. I’m available Monday-Saturday. I look forward to hearing from you! Lucy

I’m a conscientious, passionate, and driven individual with over 10 years of experience caring for children aged 4+ months to 13 years. Working as a nanny and babysitter has been such a rewarding journey, allowing me to form meaningful connections with families and support children as they grow and thrive. Along the way, I’ve developed creative ways to keep little ones entertained, from fun educational activities to hands on arts and crafts projects. My background also includes a diploma in professional education, as well as experience assisting in kindergartens and primary schools. These roles helped me build a strong foundation in creating safe and nurturing learning environments. Beyond childcare, I’m always happy to lend a helping hand to parents by tackling household tasks like cooking, cleaning, and laundry. In addition, I have a Bachelor of Education (Primary), Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, and a Certificate 3 in Children's Services. Over the past three and a half years, I have been a classroom teacher at a primary school in Brighton East and Casual Relief Teaching. My role as a teacher has encompassed various aspects of children’s academic, social, and emotional growth. Being a teacher is incredibly rewarding. Not only do you see students’ growth and progress academically, but you can build connections, make a meaningful difference and leave a long-lasting impact on these students lives. But there is one thing I truly miss, caring for children in their home. Being that person in a household who is spreading kindness, care, and support. Before becoming a primary school teacher, I was a nanny. I have worked for several families within Australia and internationally (USA and Canada). My responsibilities included caring for newborn twins, and older children, following routines (including sleep patterns, feeding, and bathing), assisting with household cleaning, driving children to and from after-school activities, assisting with homework, and maintaining close communication with parents. Whilst I was studying my Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, where I was successful in gaining a scholarship through Swinburne University of Technology, to go to Vietnam. It was a fantastic experience and extended my childcare experience, as well as providing learning experiences in another culture, and participating in their usual day-to-day life activities. Prior to this experience, I was a nanny in America. This position involved living-in with a family in New Jersey, USA where I cared for their two children (girls now aged 4 and 8). Living full-time in the family house meant that it was important that my approach and behaviours aligned with the rules and principles of the family. I've also taken on additional roles working with children, such as a Ski Instructor at Mt Buller Ski Resort and an Assistant Educator at Explorer’s Early Learning Centre. These positions showcase my proficiency and professionalism in the field.
