Our two children are nearly six and eight years old. After many years with us, our current wonderful nanny is moving on. We are looking for a long-term nanny to become a new part of our family and help provide stability and security until the kids can travel to and from school independently. We value the important role of a nanny and the connection that is built with the children. This is a sole charge nanny and house manager position, for someone comfortable with occasions where one or both parents are working from home. We need:
- Afternoons, 1-7pm Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (Mum and Dad arrive home just before 7pm)
- General cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, post office trips etc
- School pick-up (own car required, 10 min drive, booster seats provided)
- Supervision of music practice and homework
- Dinner including preparation, tidying, dishes
Our kids are energetic and bright, and love reading, crafting, puzzles and games. Our family enjoys learning about languages, science and the natural world. We do not use screen-time during the week and have a gentle parenting style (or so others tell us!). Our household uses structure and routine to help the rhythm and flow of our family in a light-hearted way and we don’t take ourselves too seriously.
Our ideal fit is someone with high emotional intelligence, who is calm, patient, caring and understanding with children, particularly during times of high emotions. They value children’s voices and opinions and can support them with co-regulation when needed. They see themselves as more than a babysitter, take pride in their important position in the lives of children and have open communication with parents. Essential: current WWCC, First Aid qualification, own car and driver’s license, two checkable references. Desirable: Certificate III or higher in childcare. Hourly rate is $40 for someone with demonstrable experience in a similar long-term role (at least five years). Initial rate $35 if lesser experience. Our start date is flexible.
