Meet Charlie: A babysitter in Heathmont, VIC

Hi, my name is Charlie. I grew up in the Heatherdale and Heathmont area and am the oldest of three siblings, with a younger sister and brother. Growing up, I was very involved in my local community, spending much of my free time playing tennis at the local club and enjoying an active lifestyle. Living close to school I used ride my bike with my siblings and had the responsibility, as the oldest sibling, to take care of them to and from school.

Since graduating high school, I have worked as a lifeguard during the summer months and completed a snow season at Mt Buller. These roles have strengthened my ability to stay calm under pressure, remain attentive, and ensure the safety and wellbeing of others. I genuinely enjoy caring for people and being a helping hand wherever I can.

Alongside these roles, I have been babysitting for the same family since I was 15 years old. I have cared for their eldest daughter since she was 7 and more recently have helped care for their youngest daughter since she was 1 year old. My responsibilities have included preparing meals and snacks, assisting with homework, school pick-ups, transporting the children to activities and appointments, bath time, bedtime routines, changing nappies, bottle feeding, and providing attentive care throughout the day and evening.

I have also regularly house-sat for this family, taking care of their dogs, feeding and walking them, completing household chores such as washing, dishes, and general tidying, and ensuring the home runs smoothly while the parents are away.

In addition, my role at Fun fields involved supervising children in both dry ride and water ride areas. This required me to remain alert and focused for long periods while ensuring children were safe and following procedures. Through this experience, I developed strong skills in responsibility, patience, communication, and risk awareness.

I am highly organised, enjoy maintaining routines, and am confident managing a variety of responsibilities throughout the day. Outside of babysitting, I enjoy playing netball and tennis, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. I pride myself on being friendly, reliable, and approachable, and I strive to build strong, trusting relationships with everyone. My goal is always to provide families with peace of mind while ensuring children feel happy, safe, and supported in my care.
