Meet Sophia: A nanny and babysitter in Hawthorn, VIC

My name is Sophia, I am 18 years old, and I’m currently taking a gap year after finishing my Year 12 studies. During this time, I’ve been focusing on gaining more experience working with children, as I’ve always had a passion for helping and spending time with them. I currently have an amazing nanny family, with kids aged 10 and 12. I am responsible for picking them up from school, driving to various after school activities and making the family dinner. I have formed a great bond with the kids and I consider them my little besties! I’ve also been babysitting since I was 15, working with multiple families, and caring for children aged between 2 and 12. Throughout my child minding experiences, I’ve taken on various responsibilities such as nappy changes, bedtime routines, playtime, and ensuring the children are safe, happy, and engaged

I’m also about to start a nannying role for a 5-year-old boy. My tasks will include getting him ready for school in the mornings, driving him to school, and making sure his day starts off on the right foot. I also currently work at Bounce, where I am on the trampolines, ensuring kids stay safe while having a blast jumping and playing. It’s a job that keeps me active and allows me to interact with children in a fun and energetic environment.

My sister has been a Peas nanny for a number of years, and I’ve seen the great connection she has with her families, so I’m really excited to build meaningful and trusting relationships with my own families as well. I truly believe in fostering positive connections with both the children I care for and their families to create a safe and supportive environment.

In addition to my nannying experience, I’ve been playing hockey since I was 10 and am currently a coach for junior players. I’m a very active person and enjoy a variety of activities including sports, baking, arts and crafts, and travelling. I also take safety seriously, which is why I have my Working with Children Check, First Aid qualifications, and a driver’s license with my own car.
