Meet April: A nanny and babysitter in Melbourne, VIC

🌺 Hello and Welcome to April's Pro PlayCare 🌺

A little about myself, I’m originally from Northern California and spent the last seven years living in Hawaii where I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology as well as taking three years of American Sign Language. I am eager to learn Auslan and continue my education in sign language.

I made the move to Melbourne July 2025 to begin an exciting new chapter with my husband, who was born and raised here. We currently live near Albert Park Lake with our loving cat. I enjoy reading, taking walks, and continuing my yoga practice as I have done for the past fifteen years.

Over those fifteen years, my work has always been centered around caring for children. I began as a babysitter, then found a job as a swim instructor (teaching all ages, from babies to adults). For the past seven years, I’ve specialized in supporting children with special needs, both one-on-one and group settings, in home and community environments. My work has focused on helping kids learn, grow, communicate, and thrive through compassionate care.

In addition, I have completed my WWCC, police check, and hold my own ABN. That being said, I am comfortable tracking hours, writing up contracts, and providing weekly invoices for services provided.

I have been working here since August 2025 with an amazing family that have two kids aged 3 and 11 months in Malvern East. I am grateful to have found such a loving family to help me continue to build my business and use my knowledge gained from my studies at University of Hawaii.

I’m looking to increase my work hours and am available Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and occasional weekends. I would be happy to provide a letter of recommendation from the family I am currently with.

*One last note... I don’t currently have a car, though I’m confident commuting via public transport.
