Meet Shontay: A nanny and babysitter in Botanic Ridge, VIC

I am a Diploma-qualified Early Childhood Educator with experience across early learning, outside-school-hours care and private childcare in Australia and the United Kingdom. I began my career working at a child care centre before progressing into a Coordinator role within OSHC, where I developed strong experience supporting children's learning, planning engaging activities, working collaboratively with educators and building positive relationships with families.

Over the past three years, I have also had the opportunity to live and work in London. Working closely with families in a range of childcare settings broadened my experience considerably and taught me the importance of being adaptable, observant and responsive to each individual child. I cared for children across different ages and stages of development and supported children with additional needs, including ADHD and autism. These experiences strengthened my ability to create predictable routines, support emotional regulation, encourage independence and adjust my approach to meet each child's individual needs.

One of the things I value most about working with children is recognising that no two children are the same. Sometimes supporting a child means planning an engaging learning experience; other times it means slowing down, listening carefully, providing reassurance or giving them the confidence to try something independently. I bring a calm, patient and nurturing approach to these moments, while maintaining the safety, structure and consistency children need to thrive.
