Meet Barbara: A nanny and babysitter in Upper Coomera, QLD

My name is Barbara, although to many children and their families I’m known as “Nanny Barbs.” 

Born and raised in Sydney with an Australian-Lebanese background, I moved to the Gold Coast 8 years ago for a career opportunity and now proudly call it home.

I’m an Australian Diploma Qualified Career Nanny, Household Manager, Babysitter, former Childcare Educator and centre supervisor of 10 years, with over 28 years’ of hands on experience caring for children from newborns as young as 2 days old through to 13 years.

My specialty is babies and children under 3, although I have extensive experience with all ages, including twins and triplets. I’m also experienced caring for children with colic, reflux, Laryngomalacia, dairy/soy allergies and various other medicals / allergens.

For peace of mind to all my families I hold the following Qualifications & Certificates

● Diploma of Children’s Services

● Childcare First Aid, Asthma & Anaphylaxis

● Working with Children / Blue Card

● National Police Check

● Food Safety Certificate

● Various additional professional development courses covering infants & toddlers, developmental milestones, learning through play and music, EYLF, sleep techniques and more.

I also hold a Heavy Vehicle LR licence from my years as a childcare bus driver and have a great driving record. I own a reliable 7-seater vehicle and have 3 quality child restraints safely installed and ready for use as needed for children from newborn through until each child passes the 5 step safety test to safely travel without a child car restraint.

I love taking children out and about on age appropriate adventures, from park, walks, outdoor exploration to fun and educational excursions, always with the parent permission. I also come prepared with a range of age appropriate educational activities, games and a Plan B for those unexpected bad weather/ rainy days!

Safety is and will always be my number one priority. One saying I live by is:

“Your kids are my kids when in my care.”

To me, that means caring for, nurturing, educating, protecting, respecting and loving your children while working alongside you and following your parenting routines and wishes. I believe a nanny should be an extension of the parents while they’re away, providing consistency, security and lots of love. 

Every family is different, so I pride myself on being as flexible as possible and adapting my care to suit each family’s individual needs and routines. 

I’m currently available for all services I provide, some are nannying, babysitting, travel nannying, parent helper care and many more at all times of the day whether that be mornings, afternoons, evenings, overnights and while travel nannying. 

My Most common services and their Rates are…

Babysitting: (focuses on the care of children and their immediate needs) from $39.50/hr for up to 2 children

Nannying: (focuses on most importantly care of children though also includes a variety of household tasks and errands in assisting the family with day-to-day life) from $42/hr

Overnights: 8pm -6am (10hr blocks) $390 terms and conditions apply. 

Minimum hourly bookings per shift: 3 hours

Rates may vary depending on the service required, number of children, duties, travel care, public holidays and other individual requirements. I’m always happy to discuss these with you.

While your children will always come first, I’m also someone who likes to keep busy! During naps or safe independent play, where age appropriate, I’m happy to lend a hand with household duties such as basic laundry, kitchen tasks and other jobs that I can safely complete while still prioritising high quality care for all children.

I’m a nanny with plenty of tricks, talents and experience under my belt, and there’s rarely a task too big or small for me to not give it my best shot. I’m blessed many have given me the nickname of Mary Poppins ☺️🙏🏻💕
