Meet Matilda: A nanny and babysitter in Hawthorn, VIC

Hi! My name is Matilda, and I’m a 21-year-old energetic and outgoing Journalism student looking for a babysitting or nannying role.

I’ve worked with children since 2022 across a range of settings:

Babysitting: I’ve cared for a regular family’s little boy since he was around 12 months old, and in 2025 I also looked after an 8-month-old baby.

Learning Support Officer: St Joseph’s Primary School, Hawthorn, supporting children aged 5 and up from all backgrounds and with a range of needs.

Swimming instructor: Xavier College, teaching children aged 12 months to 8 years.

Early learning centre: supporting children’s development through play, activities and music.

Volunteering: Twice a year I volunteer with disadvantaged Indigenous children and families on the Gold Coast and in Sydney, running activities and supporting their wellbeing. This June–July I also travelled to Bhaktapur, Nepal, where I taught health and wellbeing to a full class of primary-aged students.

Study: I’ve completed 14 units of child psychology at Deakin University, which gives me a solid understanding of child development and behaviour.

Qualifications and checks: First Aid and CPR, anaphylaxis training, Bronze Medallion (surf life saving), police check and a full driver’s licence.

As a babysitter, I’m fully present with the children. I give them my undivided attention and encourage creativity and play so they’re never bored. I also like to leave the home tidy and help with any housework that needs doing.

Availability: Three days a week, and I’m quite flexible with which days and times, so I’m happy to work around your family’s schedule.
