Hi parents! My name is Ellie, I’m 28 years old and I have been a nanny/respite carer for 10 years. I own an events company that I run over weekends (predominately Friday evenings - Sunday evenings) doing styling and photo booths for events. Although I love my business, unfortunately in these financially hard times for everyone, my business is suffering from it not being a necessity for most people. So therefore I’m back looking at another family to join!
I currently still work for a family I have been with for 7 years on Tuesday and Thursday after school hours. Although I’m not exactly ‘needed’ for babysitting, I am there to help with homework and also as a mothers help for her own sanity with washing, organising and basically just anything that needs to be done. I started when Xavier (the youngest) just as he was diagnosed with ADHD and Autism when he was 5. He has just turned 12 and I still can’t leave them! To me they are family as I’ve watched the 3 kids grow into incredible young boys/men (now aged 17, 15 and 12).
I have experience working with ALL AGES (I have references for newborns up to teenagers). One of my references involved 4 girls - newborn, 2, 4 and 6 years old. I started off with occasional babysitting whilst at school, then over the last 10 years I have done a mixture of before and after school care and also worked full time Monday-Friday, including working as an aid in kindergarten. I have done a lot of work with children with disabilities over the years mainly focusing in ADHD and autism.
I enjoy playing with kids and doing all sorts of different activities, whether it's going on an adventure or doing some arts and crafts or cooking inside. I am fun and bubbly, with the energy of a 4 year old, so I'll be sure to tire your kids out! I'm organised and dependable, and believe communication is very important for every aspect of development in children. I have a warm and loving nature, along with confidence, so your children will feel safe in my care! I am a fast learner and always have been, so taking on any new tasks is no problem for me. Although I am a very happy and fun person, I know when discipline is needed. Looking after children with autism and also growing up in a house with an autistic brother, I am well aware of schedules and structure.
One request I have as a nanny, is to be treated as apart of the family rather than as an employee. I have always had a very good relationship with all of the families I have ever worked for. Even if your family is away on a holiday, I still love being involved, knowing how everyone is, as well as seeing lots of photos!
I have my driver’s license and my own car. I did have a police check, working with children’s check + first aid training years ago before I started my business however they are all now out of date. If you require any of these, I am more than happy to get current checks / refresh my first aid certificate for peace of mind.
I am more than happy to do house work, organising and cooking. If offered a position, I would be 100 percent committed, with time and also with the development of your children.
Look forward to hearing from you!
