I’m looking for someone to join my team as a support worker for a beautiful 10 year old boy with Norries Disease who is blind and has autism and an intellectual disability. He is supported after school 3pm-8pm, weekends and school holiday. One of his current support workers is going away later in the year and we are looking to start training someone to replace her starting end of june. Days are flexible with tuesday, wednesday and thursday after school avaiable and fortnightly Sundays 3pm-8pm available. To start with we would be looking for 1-2 shifts per week with the potential to increase in the future. All training and ongoing support is provided by me so no need for prior experience but this is highly regarded. You would need to be mature, nurturing, and to have a passion for working with children and learning new skills as well as the ability to stay calm when child is dysregulated and adapt to ongoing training and feedback. Someone who is either working in or aspiring to work in behaviour support, occupational therapy, speech therapy or physio therapy would be perfect for this role as we work closely with these therapies and integrate goals into what we do with the children on a daily basis. Please note a drivers licence and access to a car is essential for the role. We are looking for someone who can make a long term commitment of at last 1 year and the role requires regular weekly work with the child to be able to work with him on the school holidays so I am not able to accept applicants who are looking for temporary or solely school holiday work. We are a family of 5. Our daughter is 17 and fairly self-sufficient ( although she needs reminding to clean her room- like every teen) She is in year 12. We have a son who is 15 and in year 9 . He has started rowing and is enjoying it. . Finally we have our 10 year old. A very funny kid who is high functioning autistic.

Noah is full of energy and loves to play outside. He will keep you on your toes as he is walking/ running and is very very active. He loves music and our golden retriever Rosie. He is a very happy little man and is generally pretty easy to please.
As I work full time we will also need some help around the house while he naps/ plays independently with some light house chores such as laundry and dishes. (The lady who has been helping me for many years is going overseas during this time.) my eldest is 15 years old (she is very independent), I have a 12 year old who walks home from school (independent) and it’s the 2 younger girls (9 and 7) who need to be collected from school.
Basic meal prep and house keeping duties also required (laundry)
Tuesday Wednesday Thursday happy for you to start 2-6pm or 3-5:30). If you can just work one or 2 of these days this is ok too.

Our current nanny helps us greatly by spending some time helping us to reset the house which makes the week go really smoothly. We'd love to find someone that might be happy to do some light housework (dishes, tidying kids toys) that will help us reset and keep things in order through the week.
