For the past eight years I've been nannying both full and part-time for several different families as well as offering occasional baby-sitting to many different friends, families and people in my community.
Prior to nannying I had experience with baby sitting several friends and family members children over the years as well as doing volunteer work with children in Australia and overseas. I am truly a big kid at heart and generally connect with children of all ages quite naturally and easily.
My prior nanny duties have included morning and evening routines and prep for school and bed, making breakfast and lunch for children and cooking the family dinner (happy to cook for the parents too), changing nappy's and putting down for naps, school, kinder and activities drop and collect, adventures to parks, beaches, libraries, galleries, museums, traveling on trains and buses, running errands, doing homework, reading, playing games, creating, baking and anything else you could imagine. I am also happy contributing to house-hold duties such as washing and cleaning and always strive to provide a clean and tidy house and kitchen for you to come home to.
Nannying with the same families over so many years, I have had the joy and privilege of witnessing some of the children I've worked with grow and evolve from babies into toddlers and from toddlers into little people. This as well as my general interest in psychology (which I plan to begin studying next year) and the human journey has allowed me to grow a deeper understanding of developmental journey of children and the unique needs that they may have at different ages.
I am a calm and empathetic carer with the ability to both set and respect personal boundaries and help children feel heard and supported. I practice non-violent communication and many mindfulness based techniques which I believe make me a great communicator and enable me to remain patient and present with others as they work through their own emotional experiences.
My childlike qualities include a large capacity to be silly and make a fool of myself, an absolute love of hula hooping, cartwheels, tree climbing, lego, fairies, monsters and make-believe. I'm very creatively driven and love art, craft and experimenting with all sorts of things to foster learning and fun. I understand the importance of and I am able to keep with family routines and activities and am also happy to create adventures with the children and work autonomously, whether its staying in to learn and create or heading outside for an excursion.
I also currently facilitate children's silent disco and hula hoop parties, am a professional hula hoop dancer and fire performer and yoga teacher. I wish to study a yoga teaching for children in the near future so that I can share the amazing benefits of yoga and meditation with the next generation of adults and continue to develop more ways in which I can share my energy and knowledge with children. I am also an absolutely insane lover of animals of all kinds, so if you have any fur babies in the house I will happily play/walk/smother with affection as well.
I am somewhat flexible with days/times and rates for the right family so please contact me if you feel like chatting further :)
