Meet Edie: A nanny and babysitter in Crows Nest, NSW

My name is Edie. I am 19 years old and I am currently looking for a nannying position in the Sydney area.

Last year in 2023 I was working as a ‘Gappy’ at a prep boarding school in England called Cheam School, . I lived on campus where I was rostered with five other Gappys to work between the boarding house as a house mother, in the school classrooms as a teachers assistant, and on the playing fields as coach. The children at the school were aged between 5 and 13. It was a nurturing and rewarding environment for both students and staff. We were encouraged to make the children feel supported and at home, while also making it fun.

What I mostly came away with was a respect and understanding how the child and the child’s families each have their own values and to a certain extent routines, which we were encouraged to accommodate and validate as and when we could.

My experience has given me the opportunity to see I would like to continue working with children in some capacity.

My hours are currently flexible and I am available up to 30 hours a week.
