Hello, I am available for short term and long term. My current role is with a 18mo boy who was 12 weeks when I started. He has recently started daycare and I now only Nanny him every Tuesday. I am trained in Newborn care to work with parents in those first early weeks to support parents and to take over when needed. I love helping new parents adjust to a new life in the house and help them to get to know their newborns. I help new parents to feel relaxed and empowered to take on their new parental roles with complete confidence or to just be an extra set of hands for the seasoned parents. I am there to look after Mum too and make sure she is well rested, well fed and well hydrated (especially if breastfeeding). I help establish good feeding and sleep routines to then move into gentle sleep conditioning at an age appropriate time if parents want to. If parents prefer then I am more than happy to carry out attachment parenting and contact naps. I work with parents for what works best for their family. My name is Alex and I am studying a Bachelor of Social Work. A big part of my personality is getting to know people and having a good yarn as I believe that is the best way to understand someone. I really enjoy spending time with kids as I find there is a lot of fun and fulfilment from learning about them and getting to connect with them. I am currently working as a social carer with two children with special needs, and have been enjoying developing a relationship with them and trying to implement a good routine. I have many interests and honestly - they are all over the place! I love going to the beach, even if it's just to sit with a beverage and watch the ocean. I also love the park and watching the animals and people walking along. When going out with friends or family I tend to gravitate to activities such as bowling, laser tag, the movies, or going out to eat. I'm relatively easy-going so as long as the company is good and happy then I'm happy! When at home, I enjoy (basic) knitting while watching some quality TV or movies. For TV I prefer docu-series or comedies or dramas (or a mix of all!). For movies I often pick the comedies or rom-coms, but you won't see me shying away from a scary movie if everyone in the room is in agreement. I love to paint, and though I'm no Michelangelo, I do believe it is so fun and calming, even if I'm just painting a solid colour on a canvas. I enjoy a drive around too and am not against driving to a new area for a good food spot or activity or museum to see. My current work is casual so I have a pretty flexible schedule.
