Looking for: Casual Babysitting

Hello! My name is Paige and I am 20 years old. This year I am freshly out of my course, where I have been studying and training contemporary dance full time for the past 3 years. This year I am putting my efforts into focusing on me, enjoying rest and the company of others around me… whilst also trying to save for future travel and goals. I consider myself a very kind, accomodating, fun, loving, studious, creative, and driven girl. I have moved away from home and loved ones in Newcastle to pursue my dancing and have been living alone independently for the past 2 years. Since living alone I have come to learn many life skills that help me wherever I go, such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting etc. I love to host family and friends at my place and of course have a huge love for children. I love their company, watching them learn, having chats as well as lots of fun and giggles. I currently have casual employment in 2 jobs which means I am good at managing my time but also am flexible if need be

As someone who has been caring for children since my pre-teen years, starting with my younger cousins and later transitioning into a professional role as a nanny, I have developed a deep passion for providing compassionate and attentive care. My experience in childcare, combined with my fluency in both English and Spanish, positions me as a dedicated and versatile caregiver. Growing up in Argentina, I have been exposed to diverse cultural backgrounds, which has enhanced my ability to connect with children and families from various walks of life. I am drawn to the role of a nanny because I believe in the profound impact that positive caregiving can have on a child's development. I am committed to providing not only physical care but also emotional support and guidance to help children navigate the world around them. With my background in working in a range of healthcare settings including a paediatric ward, children's residential homes and with children, young people and their families within their own home. My passion is supporting and empowering children and young people and I believe I would be a great fit within a nanny/babysitting role. I am a bubbly, outgoing person and can’t wait for this next adventure in my life living in Australia. I am very motivated inside and outside of my work and I have been very driven in each career path I have been on to date. I have great experience from home working with children, young people and their families as a social work assistant. Previous to this I worked on a paediatric ward in my local hospital for three years caring for new born babies to 16 years. I have a huge interest in Gaelic football which is hugely popular in Ireland. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family and going to the gym regularly. I am a big outdoors person and always up for trying new things. I am a huge animal lover and I have two dogs at home which I spend time taking on long walks at the beach or local parks. I helped my dad on the family farm caring for the animals. Growing up I spent a lot of time babysitting younger cousins on both my dad and mum’s side of the family. I worked on a paediatric ward for three years in a local hospital which I gained numerous skills from. I went onto study paediatric nursing and after a year of studying realised this was not the career path I wanted anymore. I began a new career as a social work assistant in my local community supporting children, young people and their families. I really enjoy my job and I hope to return to complete my social work degree in the future. I have a police check and a WWCC.

Nanny with 18+ years experience passionate about working with the development and education of children. I have extensive experience with newborns, toddlers, children's up to age 10, multiples, nanny share, and disabilities.
Happy to keep log book for infant feeding, sleep, play, nappy change, and so on. Common questions parents ask their nannies during interviews: 1.) What inspired you to choose to work with young children? I was 18 and working in hospitality and not enjoying it. I watched an episode of Kids Say the Darnedest Things and said “every day working with kids would be one hilarious day after the next” The next week I landed a job at a daycare center working with the 3 year olds and I was right, everyday those kids would make me laugh out loud. But what has kept me in childcare is feeling that my job is directly nurturing the future of this world. 2.) What are you the most passionate about with your work? Education and physical development. I have a very good eye on how the physical body is developing and I’m very passionate about preventing physical problems by aiding the body to be used correctly when learning crawling, walking, etcetera. Education through play, where it does not feel like learning, is very important to me. A child feeling smart is the first step in them being smart. 3.) Which activities do you feel are important in a child's development during the early learning years? Interaction and repetition. Any games or activities interacting with others is key. Reading, singing, play time that incorporates multiple senses and movement like, paint, play-duh, sand and so on. For the under 1 year old, lots and lots of touch, singing, and exploring the outdoors. 4. Describe the most stressful situation you have been in when caring for children? Conflict with parents is always the most stressful part of childcare. Parents using positive reinforcement on negative behaviors ie: I make dinner for the children/ child, explaining this is what is for dinner, its ok if you don’t want it but that’s all there is for now. And then a parent coming in and giving the child a cookie. Telling a child he or she can do the next activity after they help tidy up but the parent comes in a gives them a new toy while there are 3 puzzles thrown across the floor. Explain the strategies you used to manage the issue. Communicating with the parent, explaining the situation with them and asking for their help to be able to do my job well. If you like my answers and you’d like to chat feel free to give me a call I look forward to talking to you about how I can best care for the needs of your family! Please provide email address and I will send you through my cv with a more detailed outline of my experiences.
