Childcare Personal Statement

Print
When providing childcare, a nanny or babysitter needs to find a great match with a family. Your 'personal statement' provides a snapshot to parents about you. It is important that it conveys the right message to help you find work!

Keep it brief and relevant – don't write your entire resume! Write a few sentences about your background experience that is relevant to childcare.

Cover the Who, What, When, Where, Whys:
Why: you want to provide childcare, why you enjoy working with children.
When: you have worked as a nanny/babysitter. e.g., since you were 16, or over the past 5 years.
Who: the children you have cared for. e.g., newborns, toddlers, primary-school age, special needs.
What: sort of work you are looking for ideally e.g., 1 full-time job, several part-time jobs, occasional babysitting.

Flexibility:
Mention whether you are flexible or not about days, hours, rates or duties – this may make a difference.

Personality:
Feel free to add a comment that shows your personality or special skills! This will differentiate you from others.

Check it again:
Conduct a spell-check! Read through the 'what parents see' box to make sure your profile looks good! This box is located on your account page. To edit, simply click the 'edit' button, alter the information and click 'save'.

Make sure you are 'visible'!
Finally, make sure you have chosen 'visible' under the status question when you registered. If you have chosen 'invisible' it means that your profile will not show up when parents search. (You may like to choose 'invisible' when you are on holidays though!)

*Please do not write your surname, email or phone number into your 'personal statement'. It is important to enter this information in your registration, but for security reasons it should not be typed into your 'personal statement' box.
