Thorough screening and reference checking is important to help you make the right decision when selecting a nanny or babysitter. You should complete: Phone Screening (before interview), Credential Checking (during interview) and Reference Checking (post interview). Here are some more details:
PHONE SCREENING:
You should conduct a thorough phone screening first, before arranging a face-to-face meeting. The phone screening should cover key areas to ensure the person is the right match for your family.
Refer to our Interview Guide for more specific questions to ask. Use this initial contact to establish rapport and gain an overview of the nanny's strengths and weaknesses, before deciding to move forward to the interview stage.
CREDENTIAL CHECK DURING INTERVIEW
- View the driver’s license. Read the name and check the photo.
