Hello parents, I am a creative, warm , fun, gentle and patient individual. My nature is friendly an easy going. I believe building collaborative relationships and active communication with families are fundamental to achieving positive outcomes for children. Respecting children as individuals and providing stimulating age appropriate activities and environments, that nurture their interests and natural strengths enhances their growth and development. Promoting children's sense of security and belonging gives them the confidence to engage in activities which strengthen their learning and development. Through my experience of working in long day care (children's centre) l am familiar with activities and opportunities which assist children in all areas of their growth, physical, emotional, social, cognitive and spiritual. My years of employment have given me the opportunity to nurture and care for children of all age groups, from babies, toddlers to pre school. I am confident in providing and maintaining a safe and secure environment where children can thrive with my ongoing supervision. I am observant to their cues which gives me insight to individual needs. My enthusiasm for working with children first ignited while volunteering at my own children's primary school, who are now both adults. On a regular basis l assisted in the classroom with reading and writing journals and was fortunate to attend the occasional excursion.
One of my tasks at my children's centre was to undertake safety checks in centre rooms, indoor and outdoor play spaces reporting hazards. I understand the importance of safety to the health and well-being of children. Prevention is an excellent practice for maintaining safe and engaging environments. Children also learn from their role models and am motivated in creating and building respectful and positive relationships with parents and children. Working with children is a rewarding experience as is strengthening their self esteem and contributing to the development of their talents, independence, resilience and autonomy for their future.
Every second year of my employment (5 years), l completed an in house first aid, asthma, anaphylaxis and annual cpr refresher training. Although l do not hold a current certificate l have knowledge of first aid procedures. It was also required to complete a food handling certificate. I practise procedures learnt everyday in my home food preparations, (which l found much of to be common sense eg.using different cutting boards for meat).
My employer from long day care has supplied me with a much valued written reference, alongside heartfelt cards from parents.
I look forward for the opportunity of connecting with you and your family and contributing to your children's development and well-being with enthusiasm and joy.
Regards Dimitra.
