Hi, my name is Megan. I am 21yrs old and am currently studying Interior Design at Queensland University of Technology.
I am looking for either casual or part time work as either a babysitter or nanny. I am flexible with my rates, duties, days and hours although it will have to work in with my uni timetable.
My previous work experiences include before and after school care, vacation care and gymnastic coaching. I was an accredited gymnastics coach for seven years working with children anywhere between the ages of three to eighteen. My duties as an accredited gymnastics coach included the following: set up activities which would suit the age and ability of the children I was about to teach; ensure that all the children knew how to use the equipment properly to ensure safety for both them and others; organise and run games; organise children into groups; break skills down for children to be able to learn them properly; instruct and help junior coaches; keep track of time; fill out accident reports and talk to parents on the progress of their child/children.
I also worked up till the beginning of 2008 for six months as a before and after school carer and vacation carer. This included setting up and running games; arts and craft; regular checks of equipment and ground to ensure safety and knowing the whereabouts of all children I was in charge of.
Through my experience as both a gymnastics coach and child carer I have learnt that one of the most important things that needs to be done when looking after children is getting to know them on a personal level in order to be able to connect with them. When this is achieved, working with children can be a very rewarding job.
