Grandma type. Long term experience caring for/raising my own children/other's in childcare centres or in my/their homes. When my children were young I was an at home mother & a very active member of a babysitting club. Mostly later on worked as a qualified/childcare educator in childcare centres since 2005. Wishing to continue working as a nanny/day-time babysitter.
Desiring 3-4 days per week. Have previously started at 08:00 or finished at 20:30 on days.
Last school term I did school pick ups & care for a 6yr old & 9 yr old sibling a few days a week similar to my 2022 family. Their care requirements changed for term 2 so I have blanket availability. Over the 2022 school year, I regularly worked as a live-out nanny for our good friend's 4yr old & 6yr old. Was approx 20 hours/week. They are our ex-next door neighbour's. In 2021 they moved a few suburbs away into a bigger house & asked me to be a nanny for them when she went back to work. We had known each other since 2015. Got each other through the covid lockdowns.
For them I worked early starts or late finishes pre/school runs. Plus 1-2 days a week I cared for the 4yr old in & around their/our homes & taking them to their day time or after pre/school activities, eg: swimming & gymnastics. Drove longer distances to the odd ball pit type day time play experience. Received a little bit extra for fuel money. During extreme weather would do indoor activities such as art, sewing & craft. The 6 yr old, closely supervised, loved using my sewing machine. I would buy the odd low cost sewing material & be reimbursed. Very open to your ideas of extracurricular activities & once I know your family better & your local area confident to make suggestions to you.
In our/their backyards with one/both children collected eggs from free-range chickens & played/with dog. Supervised them on their trampoline. I did light housework, prepared simple supplied meals & fed dog.
Their parents are my personal/work referees. Still good friends & I still do the odd school pick up/Fri or Sat late afternoon til late evening then their grandparents came to continue over night care.
My husband & I raised our, now, 2 adult challenging at times sons in and around our home in Kambah. I have always felt compelled to cherish, mentor and nurture children in my life in my different capacities over the decades. Children come first.
Our family is very outdoorsy. We have a large vegetable garden & renovating our chook coop to get more chickens. We took our children camping, bicycling, picnics on remote river banks & on long road trips into their mid teens.
As far as I am concerned there is no such thing as bad weather as long as you have the appropriate clothing (except of course the extreme outdoor heat of summer.) Would do indoor activities at these times. Will jump in puddles or mud, go for long walks to local playgrounds with pram (and well behaved medium sized dog :), transport children to outdoor destinations.
If there is a need you will have to supply your own child car seats.
