For a year from November 2010 to November 2011, we employed Isabelle as a nanny for our one year old daughter Eloise for two full days a week in addition to occasional nights and afternoons. We reluctantly ended her employment as I went on maternity leave and moved to the Blue Mountains.

Isabelle made herself readily available and we could count on her. I was relying on Isabelle to go to work and Isabelle never missed one day and was never late more than a few minutes. She was extremely reliable and took her duties very seriously.

Isabelle formed a strong bond with my daughter and it was a relief to see Eloise so happy to see Isabelle. After just a few times with Isabelle, Eloise would leave me happily with a big wave and later a ‘bye mummy’ as I was leaving for work. There was never any drama when leaving her with Isabelle, Eloise always seems very excited about spending time with her nanny.

Indeed, her day with Isabelle was full of interesting activities, which helped Eloise’s creativity and physical development. Isabelle always came up with great ideas to bring fun and stimulation to Eloise’s life, whether it was making a puppy dogs with balloons, going to different playgrounds every time and making all sorts of interesting art works. We still have amazing paintings that Eloise did with Isabelle and the amount of drawing and painting she did during that time greatly contributed to develop her hand coordination and creativity.

Isabelle’s patience had no limit, she took Eloise for long walks, talking about everything that interested Eloise on the way, whether it was flowers, sticks or stones… They could jump together on the trampoline until Eloise had enough (which is a very long time!).

Isabelle strictly followed Eloise’s routine and fed her nutritious food. Isabelle did not need to be told what to do, she was great at taking initiative. She respected our wishes without needing much guidance. She was someone we could just trust. Every time I came home from work, the house was very tidy, Eloise was fed, bathed and in her pyjamas, ready to go to bed and, most importantly happy.

Isabelle’s patience with Eloise was infinite and the bond between them was comforting for me and enriching for Eloise. It taught my daughter to trust other people and Eloise has become extremely sociable since the time she had with Isabelle. Isabelle was the right choice compared to childcare centres, other babysitters we tried and even family members. Isabelle brought an energy and enthusiasm to her function that no family member would have been able to match. I have no doubt that Isabelle loved her job as a nanny passionately and we hope to have her in our lives and in Eloise’s life for years to come. We miss Isabelle now, as we have been unable to find someone we fully trust to look after our little girl now that we have moved to Blaxland. Eloise still talks about Isabelle and asks when Isabelle will come ‘in her blue car’ as she used to.
